Police are looking for a known suspect in an alleged aggravated assault in north Salina Sunday morning.

Officers were called to the 700 block of North Broadway Boulevard at 7:45 a.m. Sunday for the report of an assault in progress, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Monday. When they arrived, they found a 46-year-old Salina man lying in the grass near Mead Lumber, 707 North Broadway Boulevard, he said.

The man, who was not injured, told police that he was in his room at the Budget King Motel, 809 North Broadway Boulevard when a female showed up and began knocking on his door, Forrester said. The female was described as white and 45ish, he said.

So that others would not be disturbed by the woman's knocking, the man rode southbound on Broadway Boulevard on a bicycle, Forrester said. The woman followed in a blue Chrysler, and at the entrance to Mead Lumber allegedly struck the bicycle, he said. The man was able to jump off the bicycle, Forrester added. The woman then chased the man through the parking lot of Mead Lumber before eventually leaving the area, he said.
