High to very high fire danger has been forecast for counties in our area on Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wichita, very high fire danger is forecast over central and parts of south central Kansas Saturday afternoon, including the following counties in our area.
Ellsworth County
Lincoln County
McPherson County
Saline County
High fire danger is forecast over the rest of south central Kansas and the Flint Hills, including Marion County.
NWS warns persons in the affected areas to avoid outdoor burning if possible, especially in the afternoon. Fires will spread quickly given the dry and windy conditions.
