Salina Police are looking for the driver of a dark-colored SUV in connection with an alleged hit-and-run accident Wednesday night.
Shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday, a 1999 Chevrolet S10 pickup that was parked westbound in the 1000 block of West Walnut Street sustained damage to the driver's side, from the front to the door, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Thursday. It is believed that a dark-colored SUV southbound in the 200 block of South Clark Street attempted to turn east on West Walnut Street and struck the pickup, he said.
According to Forrester, witnesses told officers that they heard tires squealing and then the crash. He said the witnesses reported that they then saw a dark-colored SUV driving recklessly east on West Walnut Street before it launched over the railroad tracks.
Forrester said the SUV should also have damage to the front driver's side of the vehicle.
Persons with information about this incident are asked to call the Salina Police Department.
