MARION -- Two small earthquakes shook part of Marion County on Monday.
According to the Kansas Geological Survey (KGS, the first temblor, at 5:21 p.m. Monday, was a magnitude 3.3 quake. It was centered slightly less than eight miles east-northeast of Marion, just southeast of the intersection of Alfalfa Road and 220th Street.
The second, a 2.3 magnitude earthquake, struck nearby at 6:24 p.m. a bit further east-southeast of the intersection of Alfalfa Road and 220th Street, KGS noted.
