Public hearing, ordinances, 2023 budget on Salina city agenda

A public hearing, proposed ordinances, and the 2023 budget are among the items on the Salina City Commission agenda for Monday.

About the meeting

Study sessions and city commission meetings will take place in–person in room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash Street, and via Zoom until further notice. Meetings also can be viewed at the City of Salina YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/cityofSalinaKansas.

The meeting also can be accessed by phone at 1-346-248-7799. Enter Meeting ID:892 7598 4587 when prompted.

If citizens wish to speak, either during the public forum or when the mayor requests public comment on an item, citizens attending via Zoom must raise their hands so that the meeting host can allow them to speak. Those who attend the in-person meeting will have the opportunity to speak at the podium.

Citizens also can send written comments or questions to city commissioners via email at [email protected].

In order for the commissioners to have an opportunity to review comments in advance of the meeting, please email your comments or questions by 5 p.m. the Sunday prior to the Monday meetings.

Regular meeting

Commissioners are scheduled to conduct a public hearing concerning the adoption of a resolution to declare a structure at 1123 W. Ash Street to be unsafe and dangerous, directing that the structure be repaired or removed, and establishing a reasonable time within which the repair or removal of such structures shall commence and be completed.

Other items on the city agenda for Monday include the following.

●Consider approving a proposed ordinance on second reading requesting a change in the zoning district classification from PDD C-3 (shopping center) district to PDD C-5 (service commercial) district and approve an amended preliminary/final development plan to allow construction of a Tidal Wave Auto Spa car wash to be located at 2351 S. Ninth Street.

●Consider authorizing the publication of the Notice of Budget Hearing for the 2023 budget, which sets Sept. 12, 2022, as the date for the public hearing to exceed the Revenue Neutral Rate and on the 2023 budget, and establishes the maximum limits of the 2023 budget.

●Consider Wheat State Hospitality's transfer agreement second amendment request.

●Consider approving an ordinance on first reading requesting annexation of a 5.04 acre tract of land on the south side of West North Street and Old Highway 40, west of Broadway Boulevard and the abutting right-of-way for Old Highway 40.
