Eddey Earl Putman was born on November 22, 1938 in Lubbock, Texas, the son of Jessie and Margie Putman. He died Friday, August 5, 2022 at the Mt. Joseph Senior Village in Concordia, Kansas at the age of 83.

Eddey was a die-hard race car driver. He lived in Texas and California, where he owned and operated a mechanic shop, before settling on his farmstead near Esbon, Kansas, and living his final years at the Mt. Joseph Senior Village.

During his racing travels, he met a lot of people, and made so many life-long friends along the way. When he wasn’t racing, he loved attending car shows, and his ’34 Coupe was featured in Hot Rod Magazine in 1995. He was also the oldest modified racer in the history of the Belleville High Banks track.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Jimmy.

Eddey is survived by his sons Ricky and wife Tiffany of Beloit and Danny of Lebanon; one grandson, Kendal and his wife Rebecca of Katy, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Charley and Olivia; his nephew, Timmy of Salina; and a host of friends.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 11 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Putman Family.
