William Dean Siebert, 96, of Salina, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020. He was born in Larned, KS, on November 5, 1924, to O.A. and Vida Sue (Susie) Siebert.
In 1925, the family moved from a farm near Radium, Kansas to Hutchinson, and built a home at 321 E 12th. In 1940, the family moved to Salina, where Bill graduated in 1942 from the old Washington High School building. After one year at Kansas Wesleyan University, he was drafted into the United States Army in July of 1943. He served in the European Theatre of operation units of the Transportation Corp, Military Police, Graves Registration and 80th Infantry Division. He received his Honorable Discharge in Jan 1946. Awards he received were the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, ETO Ribbon with four battle starts, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, and the Victory medal.
In November of 1947, he was employed as Floorman by the National Buscuit Co. (Nabisco), retiring on January 1, 1987 as operations manager of the Wichita, Kansas sales branch. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1432, American Legion Post #0062 and 80th Division Veterans Association.
He is preceded in death by his two sons, Bill and Timothy Joseph; his parents; first wife, Teresa, second wife Lucille, sister, Shirley Johnson.
He is survived by his daughter Cindy Tubbs (Steve/Shorty), of Salina, daughter in law, Debbi Siebert, of Texas; grandchildren, Josh Burt, Wes Burt, Kyle Burt, Matthew Siebert, Bethany Link, Kayla Boyle and Chase Tubbs; step children, David Yoder, Dan Yoder, Julie Yoder, Susie Lehrman and numerous step grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 1, from 5-7 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, at Ryan Mortuary, with burial to follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.
