MANHATTAN, Kansas – The Big 12 announced the Conference scheduling matrix for the 2023-24 Women’s Basketball season, as K-State will face defending Big 12 co-regular season champions Oklahoma and Texas twice and defending Big 12 tournament champion Iowa State twice as part of its league slate.
Teams will play five Big 12 opponents twice, then play the other eight conference opponents one time, for a total of 18 Conference games.
Opponents were selected based on a combination of geography, historical results and a poll of the coaches to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness. A full Big 12 schedule will be released at a later date.
In addition to home and away meetings with Iowa State, Oklahoma and Texas, K-State will also play home and road games against Sunflower Showdown rival Kansas and one of the four newest league members, UCF.
The Wildcats will host new league members BYU and Houston and will also welcome in Oklahoma State and West Virginia.
K-State will make road trips to new member Cincinnati and visit Baylor, TCU and Texas Tech.
The 2024 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship will be contested at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri, March 7-12, 2024. Ticket information will be available later this year.
Earlier this summer, K-State announced a neutral site non-conference matchup with Missouri in the Bill Snyder Basketball Classic in St. Joseph, Missouri, at Civic Arena. The game will be played on Saturday, December 9, at 5 p.m. The remainder of K-State’s non-conference schedule will be announced later this summer.
The Wildcats enter the 2023-24 season with the return of 10 letter winners including all four starters from last season’s 2023 WNIT squad. The Wildcats will be led by 2022 All-American center Ayoka Lee, who returns for a redshirt season due to injury, senior guard and 2023 All-Big 12 First Team selection Gabby Gregory, and the junior trio of Brylee Glenn, Jaelyn Glenn and Serena Sundell.
The 10 returning letter winners were responsible for 84 percent of K-State’s scoring, 82 percent of the team’s assists and 67 percent of the team’s rebounding in the 2022-23 season. The Wildcats will also welcome in transfers Imani Lester and Zyanna Walker, redshirt sophomore Gisela Sanchez and freshmen Alexis Hess and Taryn Sides.
