KWU Men’s Indoor Track with another NAIA qualifier, plenty of personal bests at Concordia Invite

SEWARD, Neb. - Kansas Wesleyan Men's Indoor Track had several athletes with personal bests and one NAIA National qualifier on Friday at the Concordia Invitational.'

It was the final meet for the Coyotes before the KCAC Championships next week in Omaha, Nebraska.

Keegan Lott finished second in the shot put with a mark of 15.93m, earning a NAIA B standard qualifying mark for the NAIA National Championships.

Giovanni Rios placed second in the mile with a time of 4:26.81. Four other Coyotes in the race all set personal bests led by Evan Pearce in fourth in 4:30.16. Austin Hess was fifth in 4:30.64, Ian Doss was sixth in 4:32.53, and Landon Steeger was eighth in 4:38.92.

The 4x400m relay team of Andrew Smith, Nate Chavez, Nicolas Martinez and Austin Hess finished second with a time of 3:36.01.

Nicolas Martinez was third in the 800m with a time of 2:00.32, and Nate Chavez was 14th with a time of 2:04.99.

Giovanni Rios was fifth in the 1000m with a time of 2:39.14, Evan Pearce was eighth in 2:40.87 and Ian Doss was 12th in 2:44.32.

Kamal Murphy was fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.66m.

Cayden Purcell was fifth in the 200m with a time of 23.31 seconds, while Kean Dinkel was eighth in 23.83, Tyler Fontenot was 10th in 24.06, Darius Archuleta was 12th in 24.09 setting a new personal best, Brennon Allen was 13th in 24.12 and James Preston also set a new personal best with a time of 24.13 seconds.

James Preston finished seventh in the long jump with a mark of 6.42m, Darius Archuleta was 15th with a mark of 6.13m, Brennon Allen recorded a new personal best finishing 18th with a mark of 5.81m and Kamal Murphy was 21st with a mark of 5.74m.

Kean Dinkel qualified for the finals of the men's 60m with a time of 7.13 seconds and finished seventh in the finals with a time of 7.20 seconds.

Tim Parish set a new personal best in the 3000m with a time of 9:14.20, finishing seventh.

Andrew Smith was 10th in the 400m with a time of 53.65 seconds, DeJaylon Beal was 12th in 53.92 and Trevor Peal was 13th in 53.95.

In the 60m preliminaries, Cayden Purcell was 11th with a time of 7.28 seconds, DeJaylon Beal was 13th with a time of 7.29 seconds recording a new personal best, and Tyler Fontenot was 15th with a time of 7.294 seconds.

Tristan Howard was 11th in the 60m hurdles preliminaries with a time of 9.17 seconds.

Will Childers was 16th in the 600m with a time of 1:36.97.

Dylan Worrell was 17th in the shot put with a mark of 13.42m, Keyon Baccus was 19th with a mark of 13.03m and Austin Baird was 29th with a mark of 9.97m.

Austin Baird placed 25th in the weight throw with a mark of 11.60m.
