Veryl Leone Tiemeyer

Veryl Leone Tiemeyer, daughter of George and Grace Damman, was born July 6, 1934, in Palmer, KS, and peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on July 9 at the Sheridan at Overland Park.

Veryl was born at home in Palmer, KS, and is one of 10 children. She graduated from Clifton High School and then married the love of her life Freddie Tiemeyer on Feb. 1, 1953.  Veryl raised four children and was a loving, caring mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Clifton Art Buffs and supporter of her community, serving as a Clifton-Clyde Unified School District board member.  Veryl received her B.S. in Psychology from Kansas State University at the age of 45 and went on to have a successful career in public administration, serving as executive director of March of Dimes, Salina Chapter, and was regional director of North Central Area Agency on Aging. Veryl was also a talented and accomplished artist winning several awards for her paintings. Her amazing impact and incredible love for her family and community is cherished and will be remembered.

Survivors include: daughter Rhonda (Tiemeyer) Grundemann and husband William (Scottsdale, AZ), daughter Melinda Tiemeyer (Prairie Village, KS); son Eric Tiemeyer and wife Diana (San Antonio, TX) ;  son Noel Tiemeyer and his wife Joyce (Dodge City, KS); grandchildren Sam and Christian Grundemann; Caleb, (Laura) Ben, (Kat), Noah and Seth Tiemeyer; Chase (Jaclyn) and Austin Tiemeyer; step granddaughters Denise (Sean) Callahan, Diana Acevedo, and Debbie Acevedo, step great grandson, Carter Callahan and brother Thale Damman and sisters Melva Anderson and Nella Melone.

A Graveside Service will be held Monday, July 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Clifton I.O.O.F Cemetery. Memorial donations will be forwarded to Clifton Art Buffs and Clifton Ball Association care of Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home.
