SHAWNEE, Kan. - Kansas Wesleyan Softball split its two games on the second day of the Midwest College Classic hosted by Top Gun Events at Mid America Sports Complex.
KWU lost to Park 3-2 and defeated Graceland 3-0.
Thanks to the efforts of the MidAmerica Nazarene Athletics Communications staff, statistics were available for the KWU vs Park game. Statistics and information are not yet available for the Graceland game from tournament officials.
Park took an early 2-0 lead in the game with two runs in the first inning, but in the top of the second, the Coyotes drew even. Hailey Summers walked and Jenna Soule doubled setting up Cali Worsham's 2-run double to even things up.
The Coyotes had chances to take the lead, leaving two on in the third and the bases loaded in the fourth, but could not push a run across. Park scored the go ahead run in the sixth inning to lead 3-2.
Cadence Mallet and Brooklyn Lange both singled in the seventh trying to spark a 2-out rally for the Coyotes, but KWU could not push a game-tying run across.
Lange was the lone Coyote to have more than one hit in the game with two. Alycyn Nash took the loss, allowing three runs on six hits. Bella Allen recorded all three outs in the sixth after relieving Nash a batter into the inning.
