With the Spring season currently ongoing, this means this is the best time of year for gardening in starting seeds and planting warm-weather crops. However, there is currently a halt due to permit issues with a gardening shop in Salina.

According to Stutzmans stated there has been a delay in opening their shops due to permit issues with the City of Salina.

Owner of Stutzmans Ben Miller told Salina Post, they are currently waiting for their permit from the City to begin operation. According to Miller, there was initially an issue that the permit had their old location on 9th and Cloud Streets, instead of the new location behind the Central Mall.

"A simple call for verification could have cleared it and be done," said Miller. "Nothing has changed at our mall location from last year and should be a very simple view of it and put the stamp on."

Miller added the Stutzmans Salina manager is "frustrated" with the situation.

"Our manager is very frustrated with the City as is my office, who has been handling it," he said.

Miller confirmed there have been customers who have attended the garden center ever since they took plant material in Thursday, March 26.

Salina Post has reached out to the City of Salina for a comment.
