The Sacred Heart Knights kicked their season off with a dominant performance as they traveled to Blue Rapids and took down Valley Heights 40-11.
A 40-3 halftime lead kept the clock rolling throughout the second half, allowing the Knights to breeze to their first win of the season.
Sacred Heart scored on a quarterback keeper by Maddox Wells on the opening drive of the game to put the Knights up 6-0 and never looked back.
The first defensive stand of the night led to a fumble recovery for the Knights, setting the tone for a dominant defensive performance.
Maddox Wells put on an aerial assault, connecting with Maddox Ontiveros, Kolin Wilson, and Miles Wells, on multiple touchdown passes of over 30 yards.
Sacred Heart held Valley Heights to a lone field goal in the first half, and just one touchdown late in the game.
The Knights dominant defense forced three fumbles throughout the night, along with an interception by Dom Matteucci.
With this win, Sacred Heart starts the season 1-0 while Valley Heights drops to 0-1.
The Knights will take that record on the road again next Friday as they travel to Ellsworth, looking to carry their momentum into league play.
