49 pounds of marijuana found in car during Saline Co. stop on I-70

Two Ukrainian men living in New Jersey were arrested in Saline County Sunday afternoon after approximately 49 pounds of marijuana were found in their vehicle.

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said this morning that at approximately 3:39 p.m. Sunday, a deputy stopped an eastbound 2021 Toyota Camry with a Georgia license plate near milepost 248 on Interstate 70 for driving in the passing lane with no other vehicles around.

While talking with the driver, the deputy noticed drug paraphernalia and some marijuana inside the vehicle. Soldan said 49 packages each containing approximately one pound of marijuana were found in the Camry.

Deputies arrested Andriy Khlopan, 23, who was living in Perth Amboy, N.J., and Yulian Bilak, 21, who was living in South River, N.J., on the following requested charges, Soldan said.

●Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute

●Possession of drug paraphernalia

●No tax stamp
