Matthew Earl Shannon was born February 8, 1971, he passed away December 10, 2020. Matt was the seventh and final child of Jack and Barbara Shannon. He was born during a cold Kansas snowstorm and then welcomed into the warm and loving Shannon home with 5 big sisters and 1 big brother.
Matthew is now reunited with his best friend, his Dad; and his older sister Connie, whom he adored and had a close and loving relationship with.
Matthew was a lifelong resident of Salina, Ks. He enjoyed his friends, fishing, computers or anything technical, and most of all his family. He loved KU Jayhawks, KC Royals, and KC Chiefs; he rarely missed a game with his dad. Matthew had an extremely kind and loving heart. His first concern was the needs of others. Mainly his family; his mom and dad, siblings, but was also always inquiring about his many nieces and nephews. He was always quick to say how proud he was of them. One of his greatest gifts was caregiving for his mom and dad. He did this with pride and unconditional love. Always putting their needs first. Matt had an associate degree from K-State Salina, he could put together any computer or system. Matt was always ready with a quick joke. These jokes, his laugh, his smile, his kindness and love will be greatly missed by his family.
Survivors include his mother, Barbara Shannon; sisters, Cathy McMahon (Mike), Crystal Vanover (Terry), Candy Komp (Gary), Christina Bishop (Jeffrey); brother, Danny Shannon (Tina); brother in-law, Rick Olson; nieces and nephews, Zach (Tess), Joe, April, Tyler, Jake, Katie, Amy, Tom (Erin), Jordon (Erinn), Ethan (Megan), Courtney, Luke, JJ, Mitchell, and Christopher; 13 great nieces and nephews and two on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 10am, Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 702 9th Street, Salina. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.
