A Salina man was arrested in connection with a break-in at a liquor store at which he allegedly was a regular.

Officers were sent to Wholesale Liquor, 2300 Planet Avenue, for the report of a burglary early Saturday morning, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning. When they arrived, they found the front door glass shattered.

Surveillance video showed a male subject enter the business at 12:15 a.m. Saturday. He allegedly took a 24-ounce can of Twisted Tea and left. He then returned and allegedly took two bottles of Modelo beer and left again, Forrester said.

The manager of the store told police that the man seen in the video was a regular customer in the store and identified him as Karl Felber, Forrester said.

Officers went to Felber's residence in the 2100 block of Tulane Avenue and were told by neighbors in the apartment complex that he was on the second floor. Officers made contact with Felber and attempted to take him into custody, but he allegedly fought the officers.

Felber allegedly attempted to punch one of the officers and allegedly continued fighting the officers even after being tased, Forrester said. Felber, 60, of Salina, eventually was arrested on the following requested charges, Forrester said.

●Two counts of burglary

●Damage to property

●Felony interference with a law enforcement officer

●Battery on a law enforcement officer

●Assault on a law enforcement officer

Damage to the door was estimated at $1,000 and the alcohol was valued at $10, Forrester said.
