Stream Advisory Rescinded for the Wolf Creek near Lucas, Kansas and the Saline River from Lucas, Kansas to Culver Kansas in Russell, Lincoln, Ottawa, and Saline County Kansas
TOPEKA – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has rescinded a stream advisory that was issued July 6, 2023 for the Wolf Creek near Lucas, Kansas and the Saline River from Lucas, Kansas to Culver Kansas in Russell, Lincoln, Ottawa, and Saline County Kansas.
The stream advisory was a result of an ongoing investigation by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and KDHE to identify a potential substance.
The unknown substance has been identified as a nontoxic algae that causes brown discoloration of water. KDHE has deemed the stream safe for secondary (wading) contact and livestock use.

KDHE will rescind the advisory once the stream has been deemed safe for secondary (wading) contact and livestock use.
