County commissioners set to tackle busy agenda Tuesday

Saline County Commissioners have a busy agenda for their regular meeting on Tuesday morning.

Among the items are a proclamation request, senior services requests, a review of the need for the county face mask mandate, and a quarterly budget update.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday in room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash Street. A time for public comment is scheduled near the beginning of the meeting.

Commissioners are being asked to proclaim October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Abby Hunter, a victim advocate for DVACK, is scheduled to read the proclamation.

Health Department Director Jason Tiller is scheduled to review with commissioners the COVID-19 situation in Saline County so that commissioners can determine whether to leave the face mask mandate in place.

Commissioners also are scheduled to consider two requests from Rosie Walter, Department of Senior Services.

The first is a request to approve a food service agreement with Reflections Retirement Resort (formerly McCall Manor) to provide breakfast rolls, lunch, and frozen dinner meals. Reflections is under new management and is remodeling its facility, including its kitchen. According to information in the county meeting packet, food services will be reduced to as needed once the Reflections kitchen remodel is complete.

The second request is to purchase an SUV for senior services to be used by staff to deliver dry food commodities to shut-in seniors, according to the county commission meeting packet.

Other items on the county commission agenda for Tuesday include the following.

●Consider an employee cafeteria benefits plan agreement and documents -- Marilyn Leamer, human resources director

●Consider HCC stop loss insurance renewal -- Leamer

●Consider a digital recording system -- Todd Heitschmidt, District Court Administrator

●Consider an Indigent Services for Tuberculosis Control Program -- Tiller

●Consider FY21 JAG grant assurances request -- Annie Grevas, community corrections director

●Consider Amendment No. 1 to Resolution 20-2308 Appointment of Members to Public Building Commission -- County Administrator Phillip Smith-Hanes

●Consider a GovBuilt service agreement for Saline County Planning & Zoning/Environmental Health -- Hannah Stambaugh, deputy county administrator

●Hear a pre-trial stats update -- Andrew Pellant, pre-trial program coordinator with community corrections

●Hear the quarterly 2020 budget update -- Smith-Hanes

●Hear Smith-Hanes weekly update.

Additionally, commissioners are scheduled to meet in a study session to hear the presentation "Stepping Up Initiative" by Rachel Bieker, Central Kansas Foundation.

Commissioners also are scheduled to meet in executive session for a non-elected personnel matter.
