CONCORDIA -- Cloud County Community College sophomore women's basketball player Le'Yanna McGinnis has been named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division I Women's Basketball Player of the week for her pair of performances last week against Garden City Community College and Neosho Community College.

Earning the award for the first time in her career, McGinnis was the key to Cloud County's success last week by helping the T-Birds to a pair of wins in contests that she played in. Opening the week with a make-up contest against Garden City, McGinnis would score 17 points and haul in a career-high 14 rebounds to lead CCCC past the Broncbusters 60-53 despite getting injured late in the contest. After missing Wednesday's home loss against Independence due to injury, the Olathe native would be back in the lineup for Cloud County on Saturday at Neosho to score a career-best 29 points on 12-of-18 shooting in just 27 minutes of action. McGinnis now leads the KJCCC in scoring at 18.4 points per game and is third in rebounding at 9.5 rebounds per contest while ranking 17th nationally in points per game and 38th in rebounding.

The award marks the first time this season that a Cloud County basketball player (men's or women's) has been named KJCCC Player of the Week.
