The Abilene girl's basketball team will open sub-state play with a big road test on Wednesday as they travel to Wellington to square off with the #3 team in Class 4A.

The Cowgirls come into this contest as the 16-seed at 2-17 while the Lady Crusaders enter as the 1-seed at 19-1.

The winner of this contest will advance to the sub-state finals to square off with either the 8-seed in Chapman (12-8), or the 9-seed in Clay Center (11-9) on Saturday.

Tip-off between the Cowgirls and Lady Crusaders is scheduled for 6:00 at Wellington High School.
