Tammy Lea Purdy, 61, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 10:20 a.m., Thursday, December 30, 2021 at McPherson Hospital.
Tammy was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 2, 1960, a daughter of Rebecca Ann (Rainwater) Brown.
Tammy attended and graduated from Coronado High School, Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1978.
She was a member of Countryside Covenant Church McPherson, Kansas.
Through the years Tammy worked as a manicurist in Las Vegas, Nevada, worked for U.S.D. 418, McPherson as a para educator and worked for Choices Network as a care provider for Micah Anderson.
Tammy was a member of American Legion Post 24 Ladies Auxiliary where she was a fry lady for hamburger night, worked bingo, worked with the toy run for many years and served in many other capacities. She was also a Special Olympics volunteer.
Tammy enjoyed life, taking pictures, loving on her dogs, music, motorcycle rides, sunrises and sunsets, her Genomes, watching Hartland, Tombstone, grilling outdoors and Jeff's cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
Tammy Lea Brown was united in marriage to Jeffrey Eugene Purdy on May 2, 1993 at Las Vegas, Nevada. This union was joined by Tammy's two sons from a previous marriage, D.J. Morse and Ben Morse. The young couple established their first home together in Las Vegas. The couple moved to Pahrump, Nevada until 2006 when they moved to McPherson.
She is survived by her husband Jeffrey Purdy, of McPherson, Kansas; her sons D.J. Morse and wife Vicky, of Ocoee, Florida and Ben Morse of Florida; her mother Rebecca Rainwater of Canon City, Colorado; her brother Brian Groven of Carlin, Nevada; her sister LaDonna Groven of Virginia and half-sister Renee of Houston, Texas; she was also an adopted parents of Micah Anderson, of McPherson, Kansas and Shayla Melroy and husband Ryan, of McPherson, Kansas; her two granddaughters Huxley Morse and Evalynn Melroy; other relatives and many friends.
A Celebration of Life come and go will take place on Saturday, January 8, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post 24 in McPherson, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McPherson County Special Olympics or St. Jude's Children's Hospital and they can be sent in care of the Glidden - Ediger Funeral Home, 222 West Euclid, McPherson, Kansas 67460.
