The 33-year old woman who was arrested for fatally crashing head-on to a couple on August 2025, appeared in court Tuesday.
Kayla Errebo (33) along with her attorneys appeared at the Salina-Saline County building (300 W Ash St) on Tuesday in room #301 for a preliminary hearing.
A preliminary hearing (or preliminary examination) is a court proceeding, where a judge determines if there is enough evidence or "probable cause" to believe a crime was committed by the defendant and therefore justifying a trial.
Errebo was arrested back on Friday, August 8 for a head-on collision into Mark Sommerfeld (61) and Deanna Sommerfeld (55) on a rural Saline County road.
Deanna Sommerfeld was pronounced dead at the scene.
Errebo is booked into the Saline County Jail and is currently facing requested charges of:
Murder in the second degree, Failure to report an injury accident, Circumvention of ignition interlock device and Probation violation.
Errebo also plead guilty back on October 2024 for fleeing and eluding law enforcement, driving under the influence (DUI) and leaving the scene of an accident.
