In 1951, a slow-moving winter storm brought a 4 day period of heavy snow to much of the Midwest. Hardest hit were Iowa and Missouri, where snow fell continuously for around 4 days. Iowa City was buried by 27.2 inches which set an Iowa State record. Most of the snow occurred on the 10th.
In 1922, Dodge City, Kansas reported a record 24 hour snow total of 17.5 inches.
In 1938, 17 members of one family were injured when an F2 tornado destroyed their home 3 miles southeast of Salina. Fortunately, none of the injuries were fatal.
