Morris "MOE" Eugene Mills passed away Saturday October 22, 2022 at
Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas surrounded by his family.
Morris was born in Russell, Kansas on February 12, 1952, the son of
Mildred (McCord) Mills and Melvin Mills.
Morris graduated from Russell High School in 1970 and attended Salina
Area Vocational Technical College for auto body repair.
Morris met the love of his life while in college and was united in
marriage to Marsha Titus eight months later on July 31 st , 1971, and were
able to share 51 loving years together. Morris and Marsha established their home in McPherson, Kansas.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, McPherson, where he
served as an elder.
Morris worked as a carpenter building homes for Harold Schlender. He
then worked at Turtle Top, where he painted fancy designs for van
conversions. He later became ASE certified in mechanics. Morris
brought his dream of business ownership to reality and SureStart
Automotive was built at 2150 E. 1st Street in McPherson. He then
transitioned to fabricating and designing airplane tanker trucks for
Integrity Refuelers. With the devastation of 9/11 the, airplane industry
slowed, and Morris found himself at age 50 starting over. Morris knew
that he wanted to continue to serve his community and support his
family. It was then decided he would reopen his mechanics shop with a
revamped name of Moe’s Muffler and Brake. He was given the
opportunity to sell his business and spend his days on the golf course
where he served as golf course superintendent at Rolling Acres Golf
Club until 2021 when he officially retired.
Morris and Marsha owned several homes throughout the years, in 1997
they built their dream home right next to Rolling Acres where he could ride his golf cart across the yard to enjoy his retirement days with
Marsha and Callie, their beloved dog.
Moe enjoyed bowling, restoring antique vehicles, woodworking
projects and golf, spending every free moment he had on the golf
course, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Morris and Marsha had three beautiful daughters Teresa Bonham (Tim) of Louisburg, Kansas, Tamara Wilson (Shawn) of Lyons, Kansas, Tonya
Mills (Derric Thompson), of Salina, Kansas; grandchildren Kylee Webb,
Jacob Bonham, Gabriel Bonham, Kynlee Bonham, Stripes Wilson, Shane
Wilson, Skylar Mills, Stasia Bard, Shado Bard, Shaedyn Maley, Shawntay
Crawford, and Mariah Daniels; and six great-grandchildren.
Morris was preceded in death by his parents and brother Marvin Mills.
Memorial donations may be given to First Presbyterian Church of
McPherson or Rolling Acres Golf Club to be used for a cart path project.
