UPDATE: NWS cancels winter weather advisories

UPDATE 1:45 p.m. Saturday: Winter weather advisories have been canceled for all counties in our area.

UPDATE 11 a.m. Saturday: The National Weather Service in Wichita has dropped Ellsworth, Lincoln, McPherson, and Saline counties from the winter weather advisory.

Winter weather advisories remain in effect for counties in our area. Two counties that previously were not under a winter weather advisory are now.

A winter weather advisory continues until 3 p.m. Saturday for the following counties in our area, according to the National Weather Service in Wichita.

Marion County

Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches with locally higher amounts of up to 4 inches are possible. Winds are forecast to gust as high as 45 mph.

Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Gusty winds could bring down small tree branches. Wind chills in the single digits are likely today. Travel could become hazardous in areas of blowing snow. Slow down and use caution while traveling.

A winter weather advisory remain in effect until noon Saturday for the following counties in our area, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka.

Clay County

Cloud County

Dickinson County

Ottawa County

Republic County

Additional snow accumulations of up to one inch and winds gusting as high as 45 mph are forecast.

Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Slow down and use caution while traveling.
