SALINA - Julie Anne Allen, 68, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021. She was born in McCook, NE to Edgar and Beatrice (Bump) Miles.
Julie earned her associate degree in nursing from Kansas Wesleyan University and a bachelordegree in health care from Brown Mackie College. During Julie’s 25 years in nursing she worked at St. John’s Hospital, many nursing facilities, and taught the medical assistant program at Salina Tech for 12 years.
Outside of work Julie loved to create art. She was an accomplished painter, sketch artist, and potter. Grandchildren were very important to Julie and she cherished their time together.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son Levi Menke; and husband Van Phillips.
Julie is survived by a son, Aaron Menke; granddaughter Foster Anne Menke; grandsons Gaige Menke and Leif Menke; great-grandsons Lane and Jakob; and numerous loving extended family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2021 at Ryan Mortuary.
