Salina Tech students find success at SkillsUSA competition

Students from Salina Area Technical College’s Diesel Technology, Computer Aided Drafting and Machine Tool Technology programs brought home 12 medals from the statewide SkillsUSA competition this past week in Hutchinson.

This is the most medals Salina Tech students have earned at the state-level competition since at least 2015.

Students who win gold medals at the state level qualify to compete in the national competition in Atlanta, Ga., in June.

Salina Tech medalists include the following.

Gold

• Ashton Richards and Allen Cunningham in the college division of Additive Manufacturing

• Dalton Kaiser in the college division of Diesel Equipment Technology

• Andrew Strong in the college division of Technical Drafting

• Dakota Trumbo in the college division of Architectural Drafting

Silver

• Blake Holmes in the high school division of Diesel Equipment Technology

• Clayton Knipp, Chance Sorell, and Cassie Otey in the college division of Automated Manufacturing Technology

Bronze

• James Oestmann in the college division of Diesel Equipment Technology

• Nicholas Schutz in the college division of Architectural Drafting

• Ernesto Martinez in the college division of Precision Machining
