The Southeast of Saline cross country teams turned in another dominant finish on Thursday, with both the boy’s and girl’s winning the Halstead Invitational.

While both teams have impressed all season, this is just the second time that both teams stood on the top step of the podium this year.

For a second consecutive meet, the girl’s team dominated, finishing the day with 35 points, nearly doubling up the next closest team in Cheney, who finished with 69.

Jentrie Alderson continues to look unbeatable, winning her fifth gold medal in as many meets with a time of 18:44.

Freshman Abby Commerford found the podium in third place, with fellow freshman Cali Augustine finishing just inside the top ten in ninth, and senior Joni Schroeder finishing just outside in 11th.

All seven varsity runners finished in the top 25, with junior Ashley Prochazka, still recovering from an early-season injury, winning the JV race handily with a time of 21:02.

Of the eight JV runners for SES, seven finished inside the top ten at a meet that included seven other schools.

It was an equally dominant day for the Southeast boy’s team, who wrapped up the meet with 34 points, a whopping 47 better than the next closest team in Smoky Valley.

It was another gold medal for Dylan Sprecker, who has won four of the five races he has entered this season, this time with a time of 16:01.

Sprecker was joined by sophomore Levi Allen in the top five, and by Damion Jackson and Joel Kejr in the top ten.

Despite battling a field of 15 teams, the Trojans managed to get six of their seven varsity runners into the top 20.

It was a great day for the JV boys as well, who in the same field accounted for four of the top five runners in that classification.

Southeast will be back in action for the Riley County Invitational, the final meet before League on October 14th.
