Maxine L. Lindsay, 94, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024.  She was born May 24, 1929, to Fred and Rose (Power) Tomanek, in Collyer.  Maxine graduated from high school, business college in Denver, CO and attended Fort Hays State University.  She was employed as a secretary in the Vice President Office at Fort Hays State University.

On August 2, 1947, she was united in marriage to F.C. Rupp Jr. at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado.  On October 1, 1966, she was united in marriage to Duane B. Lindsay in Hays, Kansas.  Before Duane’s death, they celebrated 55 years together.

While living in Hays, she was a past President for Business and Professional Women’s Organization; President for the 9076 VFW Auxiliary; and a life member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. 

Maxine is survived by a son, Charles (Mary Lou) Rupp, of Salina; four granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; one nephew and four nieces.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husbands, F.C. Rupp and Duane B. Lindsay; daughter, Charlotte Rupp Harvey; infant grandson, Darren Montgomery; brother Laverne Tomanek; sister-in-law, Darlene Tomanek; nephews, Danny and Rodney Tomanek.

Maxine was a person who loved God and her Faith, she always sacrificed for the benefit of others.  She was quick to laugh and treasured life’s simple pleasures in her later life. 

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton with Fr. Keith Weber as celebrant, rosary will begin at 1:30 p.m.  Maxine selected cremation and a private inurnment will be held at the Veteran’s Cemetery in WaKeeney, Kansas.  In lieu of flowers, memorial masses may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth Street, Salina, Kansas 67401.
