A teenage pedestrian was injured when she was struck by a pickup Friday evening in central Salina.

A 17-year-old girl was walking in the 900 block of South Fourth Street when she was struck by a southbound Ford F150 pickup shortly after 6:30 p.m. Friday, according to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester.

Witnesses said they heard a crash and came outside to find the victim lying in the median and heard a vehicle speeding away. The victim was transported to Salina Regional Health Center with a puncture wound to her back, abrasions, and a broken pelvis, Forrester noted.

Debris left at the scene indicates the vehicle is a 1987-1991 Ford pickup. Additionally, the pickup has driver side headlight damage, Forrester reported.
