The Southeast of Saline Trojan basketball team collects its fourth straight victory tonight with a 60-55 win over the Inman Teutons.
SES had won three consecutive victories twice before but finally broke through for four straight. The Trojans now sit at 11-6 having won 10 of their last 12.
Inman falls to 6-11 on the year and has now lost back-to-back games for the first time since early January.
The Teutons took a 32-24 lead into the half, but once again SES came out firing in the third, reclaiming the lead and never looking back.
“Inman is a really good team and once they got settled in they showed that,” SES head coach Bryson Flax said. “We weren’t defending the bounce very well but at the end of the day I was pleased with how we finished.”
Southeast was led tonight by a dynamic scoring duo, receiving 18 points from both Jaxson Gebhardt and Eli Sawyers.
The Trojans also won the turnover battle big again surrendering the ball just six times while forcing the Teutons into 14.
“When we make teams uncomfortable defensively and then get on the boards and get on the run we’re a really good basketball team,” Flax said. “We made our possessions count and didn’t let them get to the free throw line.”
Inman got a solid 19-point performance from freshman Tanner Heckel, but didn’t get anyone else in double digits in the loss.
The Trojans will be back in action on Saturday when they host 14-4 Hays TMP.
