New signage has been posted, entailing areas where it is valid to consume alcohol from licensed businesses to enhance the downtown Salina experience.

The City of Salina has announced Common Consumption Area (CCA) signs are set up across downtown, meant for the consumption of alcoholic beverages within the CCA boundary. This allows people ages 21 and up to consume alcohol in approved plastic cups from licensed businesses, around public areas and plazas.

The CCA officially takes effect on Labor Day (Monday, September, 1st). Until then, drinks must stay inside licensed establishments or within approved sidewalk dining locations.

The CCA will occur from Elm Street to South Street and 7th Street to 5th Street. Other areas include some of Walnut Street and Iron Avenue between 9th Street and 3rd Street.

CCA times will be from 9:00 am - 12:00 am daily.
