Southeast of Saline traveled to Lyons on Friday night to start District play, as the Trojans faced off against the struggling Lions of Lyons.
Functioning on all cylinders in every facet of the game, Southeast made quick work of the Lions in a lopsided 73-7 victory.
Although different names may have been called throughout the night, the cycle of this game remained the same.
The Trojan kickoff team pinned the Lions back deep, the Southeast defense gave up little to no yardage, and the Southeast offense would start with great field position and score quickly.
In a total team effort, the Trojans used three different quarterbacks who threw to nine different receivers, with eight different ball carriers contributing to 509 yards of total offense.
Grady Gebhardt earned a hat trick scoring three touchdowns on his first three carries of the game on runs of 8, 27, and 4 yards.
Gannon Jacobson had a hand in the first four scores of the second quarter, throwing back-to-back touchdown passes to Bryson Lippold, and another to Kanyon Douglas, before running the ball up the middle for a 63-yard touchdown.
Tiernan Ptacek played an important role in the next two scores, running the ball in from 7 yards and throwing an 8-yard touchdown pass to Lyrik Lilley.
Burton Brooks scored the final touchdown of the game on a 2-yard run.
Lyons' only points came on an 80-yard fumble recovery and return by Tegan Link.
Jacobson led the purple offense, completing 6 of 9 passes for 129 yards and 3 touchdowns, and running the ball 4 times for 79 yards and a touchdown.
The Southeast defense posted another stellar performance, allowing just 25 yards of total Lion offense.
Advancing to 5-0 (1-0 District), Southeast will welcome the Hillsboro Trojans to Steve Fritz Field next Friday, as Lyons falls to 0-5 (0-1), and will travel to Nickerson.
