The City of Salina has announced that its annual mill and inlay work will begin this week.

According to information from the city, APAC Shears of Salina is scheduled to begin milling on College Avenue from W. South Street to Bishop Street beginning Wednesday. Weather permitting, work is expected to be completed on Friday.

The work consists of milling the existing asphalt street surface 1.5” and replacing it with new asphalt to rehabilitate and preserve the pavement section. Permanent pavement markings will be placed shortly after the resurfacing.

The work on local streets will be completed with closures, and residents will be given sufficient notice and accommodations. Motorists should expect modest delays and are encouraged to avoid the work zones altogether if possible.

The $1,011,000 project is a major component of the City of Salina's $4.7 million 2021 maintenance capital improvement program.
