Judith (Judy) Arlene Hein was born October 6, 1941, on the family farm in rural Seneca, KS. She is the daughter of John Bernard and Marcella Ann (Rettle) Rethman.
She graduated from St. Peter and Paul High School in 1959.
She married her first husband, Anthony Luke Brinker, who passed away on November 8, 1976. She was later married to Walter John Hein on June 21, 1997, in Marion, KS.
Judy loved dancing, especially polka, and was a very avid KU Basketball fan. Judy also enjoyed cooking and was known for her chocolate cake. Family was very important to Judy, and she loved being with her grandchildren.
Judy’s family includes her husband Walter Hein; children Kevin (Brenda) Brinker, Shawna Pierce, Tammy (Brad) Smith; grandchildren Kory (Shelby) Brinker, Kolby (Kaitlyn) Brinker, Kody (Kat) Brinker, Kyle Brinker, Megan Adamson, Dalton Smith; great-grandchildren Oliver Brinker, Wren Brinker, siblings John (Jerian) Rethman, Wayne (Marlene) Rethman, Doris Fairfield, Carol Karnowski, Mary (Frank) Sander; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Judy, at the age of 81, passed away on November 01, 2022, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion, KS, surrounded by her loving family.
She is preceded in death by her parents John and Marcella Rethman; first husband Anthony Luke Brinker; daughter Elaine Brinker; siblings infant Juanita Rose, Tom Rethman, Marceil Fouraker, Elizabeth Himmelberg, and Walter “Pete” Rethman.
The family of Judy Hein would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at St. Luke Hospital for the excellent care that was given to Judy, and the support that was provided for the family.
A rosary service will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on November 19th at St. John the Evangelist’s Catholic Church in El Dorado.
