For the first time since February 22, 2014, a Kansas Wesleyan Baseball pitcher has thrown a no-hitter.
Davin Hinote shut the door on the York University Panthers on Tuesday, recording a no-hitter as the Coyotes routed the Panthers 12-0 at Dean Evans Stadium.
Wesleyan's last no-no was done by David Herrera in a 2-1 win over Morningside in a four-game series that was played at two different sites, none of which were in Salina or Sioux City, Iowa.
The Coyote offense came alive to compliment Hinote's performance on the mound that was aided by outstanding defense behind him.
KWU scored at least one in every inning.
Carter Allen got the party started with a homer in the bottom of the first inning.
In the bottom of the second, the Coyotes got another run in as Joe Finder launched an opposite field shot out to left to make it 2-0.
Allen singled in the third and then scored when Garrett Garfield joined the homer party with a 2-run shot making it 4-0.
Wesleyan put four on the board in the fourth to blow the game open. Finder started the 2-out rally for the Coyotes with a hit and then scored on a hit by Tyler Nordyke. Niko Olson followed with a 2-run homer and Garfield brought in another run with a single.
The Coyotes added two more in the fifth as Chris Finocchario singled and later scored on Blake Dale's single. Olson later added a RBI double to make it 10-0.
Fernando Ruvalcaba capped the scoring in the sixth with a 2-run homer.
Allen and Finder had three hits each to lead the Coyotes.
Hinote struck out five and walked just one on his way to the victory.
