LINDSBORG -- Bethany College has appointed Bill Nelson '86 as the Director of Development. Nelson most recently served as the principal at Smoky Valley High School since 2015.

"We are very pleased to have Bill Nelson joining the Advancement team of his alma mater. Bill has a great passion and love for Bethany and is the ideal person for this position with his personality, work ethic and connections with Bethany Alumni, friends and donors,ā€ said Clair Oleen, Director of Advancement.

When asked about his return to Bethany, Nelson said, ā€œIā€™m very excited to be back on campus and am looking forward to reconnecting with Bethany alumni, friends of Bethany, and meeting new people. Bethany College gave me so much more than a degree. It gave me the experience and knowledge necessary to become a successful teacher and coach. It challenged my faith to grow as a believer, and provided me with mentors who demonstrated faith in action.ā€

Nelson resides in Lindsborg with his wife, Kristin '85. His children are Emily, Seth '15, and Elise, who is currently a junior at Bethany College. Bill and Kristin are members of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Lindsborg.
