OSKALOOSA, Iowa – Kansas Wesleyan men's volleyball dropped its final two regular season road matches of its inaugural season in the William Penn Invitational on Saturday.
The Coyotes fell in straight sets to Saint Ambrose – 25-7, 23-13, 25-17; then went four sets with Goshen College, who is receiving votes in the latest NAIA poll – 25-19, 25-20, 17-25, 25-11.
The Coyotes played the matches with only six play
Saint Ambrose jumped out to a 15-3 lead in the opening set, and the Coyotes could not bounce back.
The Fighting Bees used another quick start in the second set to come away with the win.
Trailing by eight at one point in the third set the Coyotes came back within three points at 17-14 but couldn't get any closer the rest of the way.
The third set against Goshen was where the Coyotes excelled. The Coyotes took a 5-1 lead in the set on a Christopher Perez (FR/Denver, Colo.) kill and the Coyotes led 21-11 before Goshen came back getting no closer than seven the rest of the way.
Goshen jumped out to a early lead in the first, but the Coyotes bounced back taking a 15-12 lead before Goshen would take the lead back at 17-16.
Perez had 14 kills to lead the Coyotes and nine digs. Petrie Moua (FR/White Bear Lake, Minn.) added nine digs.
KWU plays its final regular season match of the season on March 17 hosting Morningside at 7 p.m. at Mabee Arena.
