Lynda Sue Anderson, 66, of Smolan passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at her home. Lynda was born February 11, 1955 in Salina, KS to Leo E. and JoAnn (Lindgren) Anderson.
Lynda was a 1973 graduate of Lindsborg High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Bethany College in 1977. She was a physical education teacher in the Washington school district, and coached volleyball and basketball at Washington High School, in Washington, KS, for 30 years. In 1983, Lynda was the 2A Kansas State High School Coach of the Year.
Lynda was a member of Salemsborg Lutheran Church. She also served as a Kansas State High School Athletics Association official for volleyball and basketball. Lynda was named the Bethany College’s 2009 Alumni Coach of the Year.
She is survived by her brother Doug Anderson (Mary Beth) of Lindsborg, KS; her sisters Jane MacDonald (Patrick) of Smolan, KS, and Sonja Marston (Richard) of Roxbury, KS; aunt Jeanette Waage of Lindsborg, KS; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Lynda was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 7 from 5-7 p.m. at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS.
The funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8 at Salemsborg Lutheran Church, 3831 W Salemsborg Rd, Smolan, KS with Pastor Ben Fulton officiating. Burial will follow in Salemsborg Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salemsborg Lutheran Church, the Tammy Walker Cancer Center, or Hospice of Salina.
