Proclamations, grants, a charter ordinance, and an amendment to the Classified Pay Plan are among the items on the Salina City Commission agenda for Monday.
About the meeting
Study sessions and city commission meetings will take place in–person in room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash Street, and via Zoom until further notice. Meetings also can be viewed at the City of Salina YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/cityofSalinaKansas.

If citizens wish to speak, either during the public forum or when the mayor requests public comment on an item, citizens attending via Zoom must raise their hands so that the meeting host can allow them to speak. Those who attend the in-person meeting will have the opportunity to speak at the podium.

In order for the commissioners to have an opportunity to review comments in advance of the meeting, please email your comments or questions by 5 p.m. the Sunday prior to the Monday meetings.
Study session
Commissioners are scheduled to begin with a 3 p.m. study session. The topic of the study session is Enterprise Fleet Management Program. According to the city commission meeting packet, commissioners will look at the city's vehicle needs and learn about the Enterprise Fleet Management Program as it might pertain to those needs. Regular meeting
The regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Monday. A time for public comment is scheduled near the beginning of the meeting.
Commissioners are scheduled to consider the following two proclamation requests.
●Proclaim the first Friday in June as National Gun Violence Awareness Day in the City of Salina. Christi Nuding is scheduled to read the proclamation.
●Proclaim the month of June 2021 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in the City of Salina. Clinton Walker, chair, Equality Kansas of North Central, is scheduled to read the proclamation.
Commissioners also are scheduled to consider a request to authorize the submission of a grant application on behalf of the Salina Fire Department to the Dane G. Hansen Foundation in the amount of $34,191.25. If received, the funds would be used to purchase an advanced live-fire training prop for the fire department's fire training facility behind Station No. 1 at 222 W. Elm Street. The fire department is renovating the live fire training room at the facility, which was built in 1998. The room is used in training firefighters on modern and advanced firefighting techniques.
Other items on the city agenda for Monday include the following.
●Consider approving a resolution authorizing staff to submit an application on behalf of eligible local recipient agencies for the 2021 Kansas Emergency Solutions Grant Program.
●Hear the second reading of Charter Ordinance No. 40 exempting the city from the provisions of K.S.A. 12-1697, and providing substitute and additional provisions on the same subject relating to the promotion of tourism and convention, authorizing the levying of a Transient Guest Tax by cities, and repealing Charter Ordinance 35.
●Consider approving a resolution amending the city's Classified Pay Plan to add a new classification - Multimedia Specialist - to the wage/salary schedule and Salina Media Connection agreement discussion.
●Consider approving a resolution recognizing an applicant and allocating funding for the 2020 Kansas Community Development Block Grant - Coronavirus.
