UPDATE: NWS issues red flag warnings for all counties in our area

UPDATE: The National Weather Service has moved all of Kansas to red flag warnings. The fire weather watches have been canceled.

All  Kansas counties have been placed under a red flag warning for Monday, including all counties in our area.

The red flag warnings replace the fire weather watches previously issued for the counties in our area.

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a red flag warning in effect from noon to 10 p.m. Monday for the following counties in our area.

Ellsworth County

Lincoln County

Marion County

McPherson County

Saline County

Extreme grassland fire danger is forecast.

Winds out of the south at 30 to 40 mph with gust 50 to 60 mph and relative humidity as low as 18 percent are forecast.

Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly and become very difficult to control. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

The National Weather Service in Hastings, Neb., has issued a red flag warning in effect from noon Monday to 1 a.m. Tuesday for the following counties in our area.

Jewell County

Mitchell County

Winds out of the south at 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and relative humidity as low as 20 percent are forecast.

Any fires that develop could be difficult to control. Outdoor burning is not advised. Use extreme caution if engaging in activities that could start a fire.

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a red flag warning in effect from noon to 9 p.m. Monday for the following counties in our area.

Clay County

Cloud County

Dickinson County

Ottawa County

Republic County

Winds from the south at 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph and relative humidity from 16-21 percent are forecast.

Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. Fires that were completed Sunday should be checked to be sure they are completely extinguished. Winds will shift to the north in the late evening to overnight hours as a cold front passes.
