The Southeast of Saline Trojan basketball team finishes it’s Sterling Invitational with a dominant 56-16 win over the Scott City Beavers.
SES held Scott City to just eight points in the first half, and outscored them 16-0 in the second quarter.
“We really pressured the ball at a high level,” SES head coach Bryson Flax said. “I was happy that everyone was locked in and seemed to be on a mission.”
The Trojans got things rolling on offense as well, with a very even scoring spread, led by 15 from Nakari Morrical-Palmer, and 12 from Jaxson Gebhardt.
The most any one Beaver could muster was four points, scored by Gus Hawkins, who also led his team with just two made field goals.
Southeast, who began their season 1-4, has now won five of their last six, momentum that can hopefully propel them to great things down the back stretch of their season.
“I’d love to think it helps,” he said. “The guys feel good right now but also understand the tasks we face moving forward. We have to continue to get better.”
With this win the Trojans take fifth place in the Sterling Invitational and exit the tournament 6-5.
SES will take the weekend off and get back to work against Republic County on Tuesday.
