The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) and Barnes & Noble College are pleased to announce that 10 Kansas Wesleyan football student-athletes have been named 2021-22 KCAC Scholar-Athletes.
Barnes & Noble College is the official sponsor of KCAC Scholar-Athlete and Scholar Team awards, and is the official campus bookstore and course material provider of the KCAC.
Connor Waltz (FR/Niceville, Fla.), Kedric Liggins (FR/Salina), Isaac Robinson (FR/Fountain, Colo.), JT Ohlson (FR/Bennington), Sven Otterness (JR/Goodhue, Minn.), Anthony Bargas (SO/Pittsburg, Calif.), Kaleb Hagans (FR/Hays), Reese Nebel (FR/Hesston), Jarren Hightower (JR/Oklahoma City, Okla.) and Nolan Harris (SR/Lexington, Mo.) all earned the award.
Ottawa leads all conference football teams with 16 scholar-athletes. Nine other teams had double-digit honorees, including Bethel (14), Southwestern (13), Avila (12), Friends and Tabor (both have 11 each), and Bethany, Kansas Wesleyan, McPherson, and Saint Mary (each with 10). McPherson (nine) and Sterling (eight) round out this year's list of football scholar-athletes.
The All-KCAC Scholar-Athlete Academic Award recognizes excellence in the classroom by KCAC member student-athletes who are sophomores or above in academic standing at the beginning of the semester in which they compete, carry a minimum 3.250 cumulative GPA at the beginning of the semester in which they compete and must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at the KCAC institution to be eligible.
