Brooklyn Velotta had a hat trick for the Kansas Wesleyan Women's Soccer team as the Coyotes dominated Wednesday's match with the Bethany Swedes for a 5-0 victory at JRI Hospitality Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex.
Velotta scored the first, third and fourth goals for the Coyotes who outshot the Swedes 35-1 in the match.
Wesleyan's biggest competition in the match was itself as the Coyotes were called for 11 offside calls in the first half and the Coyotes missed several open net shots just barely wide of the posts that could have broken the match open very quickly.
It didn't take long for the Coyotes to get on the board. Velotta's first came in the fourth minute off a pass from Teigan Nielsen.
Five minutes later the Coyotes had another goal on the board as Victoria Poon scored off a helper by Lexi Jack to make it 2-0.
Velotta was in goal again in the 17th off a double assister by Talia Walsh and Wendy Zamudio.
Wesleyan led 3-0 at the half.
KWU added two more in the second half.
Velotta completed the hat trick in the 51st minute off assists from Ameera Al-Maksosi and Grace Murphy.
Edna Cruz capped the scoring with a goal assisted by Abby Perez in the 80th minute.
The victory was the 12th straight for the Coyotes over Bethany, and extends KWU's unbeaten streak against the Swedes to 24 matches (23-0-1). KWU has not lost to Bethany since 2004.
Velotta led the Coyotes with seven shots while Emily Martin and Perez had four each.
Karmen Coronado got the clean sheet for the Coyotes with one save.
