WICHITA The Wind Surge defeated the Tulsa Drillers 5-4 in a thriller to win in walk-off fashion behind Spencer Steer’s multi-homer game to win.  The win extends Wichita’s winning streak to eight games.

The Surge grabbed an early lead in the first inning with a Spencer Steer RBI double to take a 1-0 lead.  Wichita scored two runs in the third inning and one run in the fourth as Michael Helman hit an RBI single and Steer hit two solo homers to tie the game 4-4. Steer finished the night going three for five with two home runs and three RBIs.

Simeon Woods-Richardson pitched for the Wind Surge and worked five and one third innings, allowed four runs on five hits while tallying six strikeouts before being relieved by Kody Funderbunk in the middle of the fifth inning.

After four scoreless innings, Alex Isola singled in the bottom of the ninth and would later score on a game-winning RBI double from Matt Wallner to win the game.

Notes: Austin Martin’s consecutive reached base streak ends at 21 games.  He did steal his 13th base, after reaching on an error…The Surge have won eight straight games for the longest winning streak as a franchise…Matt Wallner recorded his fourth outfield assist on the season
