Donald "Mike" Fagan
November 2, 1947 ~ March 18, 2024

Mike Fagan, 76, of Osage City, passed away on March 18, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 2, 1947 in Winston Salem. North Carolina. He was the only child of Donald M and Leola (Swanson) Fagan. In 1955 the family moved to a farm near Burlingame where he attended Burlingame schools and graduated with the class of 1965.

He enlisted in the Navy Reserves and requested his active duty be in Vietnam, serving a year in the Brown Water Navy, River Division 535 on PBR boats from November 1968 to November 1969.

After nearly three years of dating, Mike and Linda Peterson were married October 14, 1968 and celebrated 55 years of marriage. They were blessed with three daughters. 

Since the 1970's Mike was employed in some part of the rock production. He started as a truck driver and worked his way through every job in the quarry and became plant manager. In 1978, he moved to Neodesha, KS to become plant manager at a quarry for Midwest Minerals. In 1991 he returned to Osage County and supervised many quarries in Northeast Kansas & Northwest Missouri for Martin Marietta. He retired in 2009 as a Production Superintendent for several quarries for Martin Marietta. Upon the death of his father in 1996, he took charge of the farming and cattle operations at the family farm. 

Mike was all about fun. A lifelong dream to become a private pilot was accomplished in 1991. He was a Chiefs fan and enjoyed years of games and tailgating with his girls and other family members. He loved water and boats and spent lots of time on the lakes locally and The Lake of the Ozarks skiing and tubing with the family. He snow skied the slopes of New Mexico, river rafted in Colorado, rode the rollercoaster on the top of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas, snorkeled and ziplined in Hawaii, parasailed in Alabama and partied on the streets of New Orleans. 

Mike is survived by wife; Linda of the home, daughters Chelle (Bret) Rollins of Chanute, KS, Angel (Brian) Poertner of Osage City, KS, and Becky (Justin) Speer of Emporia, KS, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many cousins and friends. 

Visitation will be 4-6PM Sunday March 24, 2024 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home in Burlingame, KS. Funeral services will be at 11AM, Monday March 25, 2024 at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Osage City, KS.
