Governor seeking to fill vacant Sedgwick Co. judge position, applications now available

Governor Kelly is seeking applicants to fill the district court judge position in the 18th Judicial District, which is composed of Sedgwick County. The governor received official notice of this vacancy from the Clerk of the Appellate Courts on Wednesday, September 3. 

The vacancy is due to the passing of Judge Bruce Brown.

Individuals wishing to apply should email [email protected] for application materials.

Applicants must submit materials by FridayOctober 10.  

District court judges in the 18th Judicial District are elected and serve four-year terms. Consistent with K.S.A. 25-312a, the person appointed to fill the vacancy shall serve until a successor is elected and qualified at the next general election to serve the remainder of the unexpired term.
