Kansas Wesleyan Baseball saw Saint Ambrose capitalize on some defensive miscues by the Coyotes as the Bees came away with an 8-5 win on Thursday at Dean Evans Stadium.

Thursday's games are part of a weekend schedule adjustment due to forecast inclement weather, including cold temperatures forecast for the area.

The Coyotes broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning when Garrett Garfield homered to left center field.

In the top of the fifth, Saint Ambrose plated three runs to take the lead. The Bees loaded the bases, then plated runs on a pair of wild pitches, and added a third on a single.

Wesleyan tied it in the bottom of the frame as Coulson Riggs singled then went to third on an error on a pick attempt at first and then scored on Lakin Franz's fielder's choice. Alex Garcia was hit by a pitch and Jacob Williamson singled down the third base line, reaching when the ball hit the third base bag and bounced away. Tyler Favretto walked to bring in the tying run, but the Coyotes would leave the bases loaded.

The Bees took a 7-3 lead in the sixth capitalizing on a KWU error in the inning. After a leadoff double, Saint Ambrose then got a run on the error play then added runs on a single and two more on a 2-run double.

The Coyotes got one back in the sixth when Riggs doubled and then scored when Franz reached on an error.

KWU got another back in the seventh as Favretto was hit by a pitch to start the inning, and courtesy runner Michael Rago stole second then scored on Garfield's single.

Saint Ambrose added a run in the top of the ninth. The Coyotes looked to have something started in the bottom of the inning but Williamson was thrown out trying to stretch a single to stop momentum and the Coyotes could not rally.

Williamson, Garfield and Riggs had two hits each for the Coyotes. Wil Yamka took the loss in relief, allowing two runs, only one earned, on two hits in two-thirds of an inning. Starter Riley Bradshaw went four and a third, allowing three runs on five hits, with seven strikeouts.
