On Sunday at 1:42 p.m., a Salina Police Department officer recognized a male individual with multiple warrants at the Casey's on East Iron Avenue and South Ohio Street.
As the officer began to conduct a traffic stop to interact with the suspect, he took off on South Ohio Street.
From there, the suspect fled to the 100 block of South Ohio and turned east on Greeley Avenue, north on Missouri Avenue to Gypsum Avenue to get to Indiana Avenue, and turned west on Iron Avenue.
The suspect sped off, fleeing from the SPD officer.
"(The vehicle) had a pretty high rate of speed at about 80 mph," said SPD sergeant Kyle Tonniges. "So at that point, the officer pulled off that pursuit because of the speeds."
According to Tonniges, SPD is still looking for the unnamed suspect but requested a warrant for his arrest for flee and elude.
