CHARLOTTE, NC - A Region VI Outdoor Track and Field Championship performance from Cloud County Community College sophomore track athlete Saba Khvichava has led to NJCAA Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors on Wednesday.

Competing in three different events over the course of the three-day championship meet, Khvichava would earn one of CCCC's five NJCAA Region VI Championships by running the NJCAA's second-best time of the year in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:10.46. The native of Pototei, Georgia, also was part of a second Region VI Championship performance by running the second leg of the 4x800 meter relay team that would run a time of 7:40.67 and best the 10-team field in the event. Khvichava would also run a time of 1:55.34 in the 800 meters, scoring for the T-Birds with a fifth-place finish as Cloud County would finish as Region VI Runners-Up in the team scoring.

Khvichava is the first Cloud County men's athlete during the 2021 outdoor track and field season to be named NJCAA Athlete of the Week and third men's athlete to be named an athlete of the week across the KJCCC, USTFCCCA, and NJCAA.
